Silence of the Night
The glow of the street lights,
Add to the dim glow of my heart,
The rain falls,
Drenching my coat,
Orange from the windows of near by houses,
Lights the road,
Sparkling with the layers of wet,
Clouds cover the twinkling stars,
Hiding my memories of you,
Trees seem like hooded strangers,
As the darkness falls,
My feet seem heavy,
Pounding down on the road,
Passing headlights leave only darker scenes,
And images of black,
Branches create shadows of creeping hands and bony fingers,
Rain falls heavier,
Disturbing the silence of the night,
The moon gives an erie glow,
As the clouds part to show the stars,
Gravel crunches under
